Tracy Whittaker, Owner of 2 Love My Lips, came up with this idea on a night out in Belfast  when a gentleman brought her a drink. The bar maid had warned her that drink spiking was on the increase and that she probably shouldn’t accept the cocktail.

Drink spiking is a growing concern for women in most countries across the world. A recent survey carried out by The Guardian and the Channel 4 programme Dispatches found  that one in four women of club and pub-goers have had their drinks spiked. Despite attempts all over the country to curb the escalating problem, the number of incidents reported continues to increase. It is undisputable that hundreds more go unreported.

After researching what was on the market to combat drink spiking, Tracy thought about combining the concept of beauty with safety.

“Young girls wouldn’t normally think ‘oh i’ll go and buy myself a drink spike detector kit’ so it was figuring out the best way of marketing it. The majority of ladies love makeup and wouldn’t think twice to buying a lip gloss, so I thought why not merge the two concepts.
